Cathy currently works as part of the Capability Team for Services to Schools, National Library of New Zealand. As part of this team, Cathy works alongside schools and kura across Aotearoa New Zealand, supporting literacy, learning, and library development. Working with librarians, teachers and school leaders, Cathy supports the development of effective school libraries, information literacy, use of digital resources and school-wide reading for pleasure. Cathy has always been a lover of literature for children and young people and is passionate about how the joy and love of reading can lead to positive outcomes for student learning. Before joining Services to Schools, Cathy spent many years as a Primary School Teacher and later as a Teacher Librarian, where she managed learning and library services for students from Years 1 to 13. This experience provided a deep understanding of the diverse needs of learners at every stage of their educational journey, and Cathy continues to bring that wealth of knowledge and expertise to her current work with schools, teachers, and school leaders.
