Tools and resources for creating communities of readers (22716)
Pūtoi Rito has generated a number of valuable tools and resources designed to support educators and families in fostering a reading culture. This interactive workshop will provide a hands-on exploration of these practical resources, offering participants the opportunity to directly engage with materials and learn effective strategies for implementation in diverse learning environments. Participants will leave with concrete ideas and actionable steps for integrating these resources into their practice to enhance reading engagement.
• School Reading Community Framework - Recognising that reading requires staff to collaborate and adopt a whole-school approach.
• Teachers Creating Readers Framework – Teachers, like school librarians and whānau, are vital reading role models and we explore ways they can encourage students to read for pleasure.
• School Reading Culture Review tools - Use our Primary School Reading Culture Review tools to help you review current reading for pleasure practice in your school.
• Reading Identity Cards - Reading identity is an integral part of being a reader and these cards are designed to help you reflect on, develop and share your reading identity and better support others to develop theirs.
